The UK government will require new homes and businesses to incorporate electric vehicle (EV) chargers into their design from 2022.
According to Gizmochina, the new requirement means that up to 145.000 new EV charging points will be added in the country every year. The UK government's move aims to expand access to charging sources for the rapidly growing electric vehicle segment.
Essentially, the UK government wants to ensure a seamless future for electric vehicles in the country. A press release issued by the government said the regulation means everyone who can buy new real estate assets is ready for an electric vehicle future. It will also ensure charging stations are available at new stores and workplaces in the country. The details of the new law are still unclear.
Currently, the UK government aims to install more than 250.000 EV charging points across the kingdom.
