Users 'wait' for policies to solve the problem of electric vehicle charging stations
With the rapid development of the electric car industry, more and more consumers are choosing electric vehicles as an alternative solution that is both economical and environmentally friendly. However, finding an electric vehicle charging station is still a big difficulty for many users.
The shortage of charging stations is always a "headache" for both electric car manufacturers and users. In big cities: Hanoi, City. Ho Chi Minh City,... the number of charging stations is still not enough to meet the increasing needs of electric vehicle users. This situation is even more serious in rural or suburban areas, where infrastructure is limited.
Although fast charging technology is improving, it still takes much longer to fully charge an electric car than to fill up with gas. For typical charging stations, this can take anywhere from a few hours to more than one night. Even with fast charging stations, users still need at least 30 minutes to an hour to fully charge the battery, causing inconvenience for those with busy schedules.
It can be said that installing a charging station at home is a popular solution to avoid waiting at public charging points. However, installation costs can be very high, especially for fast charging systems. Not everyone has the financial conditions or suitable space to install a charging station at home, especially those living in apartments or rented houses.
Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said that the Ministry of Transport has issued Circular No. 09/2024/TT-BGTVT amending national technical regulations on road rest stops, which stipulates that there must be charging stations for vehicles. electricity at rest stops. For urban roads and urban works, the arrangement and licensing of construction stations and charging poles are under the authority of localities.
However, to ensure safety, especially charging stations at existing projects, management agencies need to consider and evaluate based on many factors such as: having a design and standards for charging stations (because Currently, electric vehicle manufacturers also have many different charging standards and there is no common consensus), charging station area; must strictly comply with legal regulations and meet safety requirements; security; consistent with power grid planning; ensure traffic safety; fire prevention and fighting safety; prevent electricity leakage when natural disasters occur such as waterlogging, floods...; At the same time, they must comply with local state management regulations and specialized ministries.
Currently, Vietnam has the only car company that produces pure electric cars, VinFast, which owns more than 150.000 charging ports, but has not released official information about the plan to expand the charging station system in the next phase. In addition, Vietnam's largest electric vehicle company affirmed that it "will not share charging station infrastructure with competitors for at least the next 10 years."
It is forecasted that in the near future, the Vietnamese car company will have to compete with a series of electric car brands from China, Japan, Korea, Europe... Investing in a charging station system to meet people's needs Consumption is absolutely necessary. In particular, the Government needs to have policies to support the development of charging station networks, with large investments in electric vehicle charging infrastructure from both the public and private sectors. At the same time, encourage the use of electric vehicles through tax incentives and sponsorship measures.
