On March 28, Green Innovation Joint Stock Company (GREEN IN) coordinated with the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Mekong Delta branch to organize the Workshop 'Green transition: Challenges, opportunities for Mekong Delta businesses and solutions to support businesses' and " Displaying models and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change" in Can Tho. The workshop focused on discussing contents related to the impact of domestic and international greenhouse gas emission reduction policies on Mekong Delta businesses in the context of climate change; Analyze the current situation of businesses in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; Challenges and opportunities for Vietnamese businesses, especially Mekong Delta businesses in the green transition from an expert perspective; take advantage of opportunities from the carbon market and carbon emission inventory for businesses in the green transition trend, meeting international standards... With the participation of 220 delegates from businesses and departments representing In the Mekong Delta province, the workshop opens up opportunities for multi-stakeholder exchange towards finding effective directions towards green transformation in production.

Specifically, Decree 06/2022-ND-CP on mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the ozone layer; Decision 01/2022/QD-TTg requires businesses to conduct inventory and take appropriate emission mitigation actions. The list of greenhouse gas inventory units stipulates that 1.912 businesses will have to inventory greenhouse gases from now until 2026, which will have to be done every 2 years; including inventory and emissions reduction planning to be able to participate in the carbon market that will be implemented according to regulations in 1.

The world is also increasingly tightening restrictions on export products, notably the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) of European Union (EU). The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a tool that aims to impose a fair price on carbon emissions emitted during production. Especially with goods with high carbon emission density being imported into the EU, and encouraging cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries. When CBAM officially takes effect, Vietnamese export businesses will be subject to carbon tax when exporting to Europe, meaning products will compete in price and quality, increasing costs.
