From small-scale production, Ha Tinh is gradually transforming strongly towards green, sustainable agriculture...
From small, fragmented fields, Ha Tinh province has now formed many concentrated production areas, synchronously applying mechanization, science and technology and the process of "one variety, one season, one cultivation process".
Over the years, Ha Tinh agriculture has continued to affirm its role as a solid "pillar" of the economy, contributing to ensuring food security, social stability and promoting comprehensive growth. The average growth rate of the sector reaching over 3%/year is an impressive figure in the context of many difficulties due to natural disasters, climate change and the need to restructure production towards modernity.
LAND CONCENTRATION AND ACCUMULATION – THE FOUNDATION FOR LARGE-SCALE AGRICULTURE
Realizing the importance of reorganizing production, Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU on leadership and direction of land concentration and accumulation associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021-2025 and the following years. This is considered a strategic step, paving the way for the formation of large-scale, professional and sustainable commodity agriculture.
After more than 3 years of implementation, the whole province has concentrated and accumulated over 13.000 hectares of agricultural land, reaching more than 87% of the target. From small, fragmented fields, many concentrated production areas have now been formed, applying synchronous mechanization, science and technology and the process of "one variety, one season, one cultivation process".
The change in production thinking not only helps farmers increase their income but also creates the premise for Ha Tinh to develop green, environmentally friendly agriculture. This is a direction in line with the current development trend.
From small-scale production, Ha Tinh is gradually transforming strongly towards green and sustainable agriculture. Land accumulation, organic agriculture development, and application of science and technology have created new vitality for rural areas, contributing to making agriculture an important driving force in the province's economic growth.
EXPANDING ORGANIC AREA, BUILDING CLEAN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS BRAND
Implementing the Resolution of the 5th Provincial Party Congress, Ha Tinh pays special attention to developing organic and safe agriculture associated with environmental protection and public health. On May 15, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1216/QD-UBND approving “Organic agriculture development project in Ha Tinh province for the period 2024–2030”, clearly defining the goal of making organic agriculture the mainstream direction.
Statistics show that up to now, the whole province has more than 108 hectares of certified organic crops, nearly 300 hectares of organic production and more than 1.000 hectares of safe production standards. Many models have been effective, creating their own mark such as the Dau Giang Rice Cooperative (Ky Khang commune); the organic production chain - circulation of Que Lam Group, or the Ngoc Boi Village Organic Grapefruit Production Cooperative (Phuc Trach commune)...
Phuc Trach grapefruit is the main crop of many mountainous communes of Ha Tinh.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Toan Luu commune is one of the pioneers applying the green agricultural model. With an area of over 1.200 m2, he has invested in a greenhouse system and drip irrigation to grow melons. “The application of technology helps to control water sources, fertilizers, and the living environment of plants. I prioritize using organic fertilizers, thanks to which the melons are sweet, crunchy, and trusted by consumers,” Mr. Tuan shared.
Such organic production models are contributing to spreading new production thinking – agriculture not only creates products, but also preserves the environment and vitality of the land.
Along with organic development, Ha Tinh promotes the application of science and technology, biotechnology and digital transformation in agricultural production. Currently, the whole province has over 70 cooperatives and enterprises applying high technology in cultivation, animal husbandry and production management.
In addition, 135 production facilities with more than 280 OCOP products and key products have been promoted and consumed on e-commerce platforms. Bringing agricultural products to the digital space not only expands the consumer market but also enhances brand value, helping farmers get closer to modern agriculture.
FORESTRY AND AQUACULTURE DEVELOPMENT LINKED TO GREEN ECONOMY
In the aquaculture sector, Ha Tinh has strongly transformed from small-scale farming to a concentrated model, applying modern technology and management. The average output in the 2021-2025 period reached 57.450 tons/year, an increase of 3,7%/year.
Forestry continues to affirm its important role in green economic development, with 34.524 hectares of forest certified by FSC, VFCS/PEFC.
Ha Tinh is one of the first six localities nationwide to pilot the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Results Transfer Program (ERPA). During the 2023-2025 period, the program has brought in 6,48 million USD to the locality, creating important resources for reinvestment in forest protection and development.
Ha Tinh strives to have about 37.000 hectares of forest certified for sustainable forest management by 2030.
The results achieved are an important foundation for Ha Tinh to enter a new development phase with the orientation of green, modern and sustainable agriculture. Ha Tinh province sets a target that by 2030, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products per hectare of production land will reach 112 million VND, forming ecological agricultural zones associated with tourism, processing industry and stable consumption markets.
According to Permanent Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Linh, in the 2026-2030 period, Ha Tinh will continue to thoroughly and effectively implement Resolution 06-NQ/TU, and at the same time review and promulgate mechanisms and policies suitable to reality.
The province will also encourage flexible land transfers, leases, and contributions, promote mechanization and automation, and attract businesses to invest in large-scale production, high technology, and agricultural processing industries.
Along with that, Ha Tinh will focus on training high-quality agricultural human resources, promoting trade, building typical agricultural product brands, promoting the role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in propagating and mobilizing people to join hands in developing ecological agriculture.
