At the press conference to inform about the 10th Congress of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee on the afternoon of October 10, in an interview with the press, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that Thanh Hoa has a policy of shifting its focus on attracting investment.
Accordingly, the province will no longer prioritize projects that use a lot of labor and resources such as footwear and textiles, but will focus on attracting projects with high technology content, green projects, low carbon emissions, in line with sustainable development orientation in the new period.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong emphasized: “This is not only Thanh Hoa’s own development policy but also the consistent orientation of the Party and Government. The province closely follows the 7 new Resolutions of the Politburo, especially Resolution 57 on digital transformation, to shape the growth model towards modernity, efficiency and sustainability.”
Currently, Thanh Hoa has about 30 large projects in the fields of footwear, textiles and garments, with a total investment capital of about 1,2 billion USD, attracting more than 200.000 direct workers. This is a force that has contributed greatly to the province's economic growth over the past years. However, according to provincial leaders, this development model has shown limitations in terms of low added value, resource consumption and facing the requirement of green transformation according to international standards.
Therefore, Thanh Hoa aims to focus on calling for and selecting investment projects with high technology content and environmental friendliness in the coming period, creating a foundation for long-term growth. The province will prioritize investors with strong financial capacity, using advanced technology, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting digital transformation in production and services.
This orientation is also linked to the goal of rapid and sustainable development clearly stated in the draft Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030. Accordingly, Thanh Hoa aims to become a high-quality industrial and service center of the North Central region, developing the economy in association with environmental protection, climate change adaptation and deep integration into the global value chain.
Along with the shift in investment attraction, Thanh Hoa province will continue to focus on completing industrial park infrastructure, especially Nghi Son Economic Zone, promoting investment environment improvement, administrative reform and improving the quality of human resources, creating favorable conditions to realize the goal of high-tech development, green development and carbon emission reduction in the coming period.
