Ms. Do Thi Thuy Huong, Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Electronics Industry Association, shared that the global supply chain is being severely disrupted. Vietnam, as an important electronics manufacturing center, is not out of this vortex.

Research and requirements from major export markets such as the EU, the US, and Japan are increasingly strict on green standards, from the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) to Net Zero commitments from large corporations such as Apple, Samsung, and Intel.

These pressures are not only challenges but also mandatory requirements. Without green transformation, Vietnamese enterprises risk being eliminated from the global supply chain.

"We must act immediately to transform the production model, from applying energy-saving technology to building a transparent ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) management system, to ensure long-term competitiveness and sustainability," Ms. Huong emphasized.

Ms. Nguy Thi Giang, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of GREEN IN Company, emphasized the message that Vietnamese enterprises should not wait to grow to be green, but be green to grow.

Internationally, some policies have been introduced such as the EPEAT eco-label owned and operated by the Global Electronics Council. EPEAT is applied to many groups of electronic products such as computers, monitors, televisions, mobile phones, etc. Thereby, encouraging manufacturers to reduce greenhouse gases in the production, design, and life cycle of products, etc.

Or in the domestic market, a list of 2.166 enterprises must conduct greenhouse gas inventories; manufacturers and importers of electronic products must recycle electronic products...

Dr. Bui Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the Office of Private Economic Development Research, emphasized that in a changing world, it is important for businesses to transform themselves, take advantage of support from state policies and market pressure to transform and improve internal capacity.

Mr. Lai Hoang Duong, Director of Thanh Giong Communications and Computer Joint Stock Company, emphasized that one cannot be indifferent, because if one does not commit to ESG, one may have to cut orders. If a business does not continue to pursue ESG, it may have to close down because of the requirement for suppliers to provide ESG certification. In particular, businesses can start ESG by switching from the transportation stage to electric vehicles.
