India asked Tesla not to sell the country cars made in China

“I told Tesla that in the Indian market, do not sell Tesla cars made in China. Tesla should produce electric cars in India" - Indian Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said.

According to Bloomberg News on October 10, last week Indian Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said he had asked Tesla Company (USA) not to sell Chinese-made cars in his country's market.

Mr. Gadkari said Tesla should "manufacture cars in India, sell in India and export from India" and buy goods from local suppliers.

The statement was made before electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to enter the Indian market.

The Indian minister said Tesla models in India will cost 3,5 million rupees ($46.671) each and the Indian Government will provide whatever support Tesla needs to enter India.

In August, Tesla Company was approved to produce or import four car models in India, according to information posted on the website of the Indian Ministry of Road Transport.

Currently, American billionaire Elon Musk's Tesla car company is producing cars at factories in the US and China, and is also awaiting final approval for a new factory in Germany.
