How do VinFast electric motorbikes promote green transportation in Vietnam?

Bloomberg believes that electric motorbikes are one of VinFast's key products, aiming towards a green transportation future in Vietnam.

Bloomberg reported that electric motorbikes are one of VinFast's key products, which the company has set the goal of "For the future of green transportation in Vietnam". With the desire for the majority of people to switch from gasoline motorbikes to electric vehicles, VinFast built a 365-hectare factory, producing electric motorbikes, electric buses and, in the future, electric cars.

“Vietnam's middle class is growing rapidly. They are concerned about environmental pollution and will actively embrace the green transportation revolution," Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong said on Bloomberg.

IQAir - an air quality measurement technology unit, said that Vietnam is currently the 15th most polluted country in the world, causing losses of up to 13,6 billion USD each year. This is also one of the reasons for Vingroup to invest 3,5 billion USD in the VinFast factory complex in Hai Phong, according to Bloomberg.

By the end of 2019, VinFast launched three electric motorbike models, with sales reaching 50.000 vehicles. The 2020 target set by this company is 112.000 vehicles. The fourth car model is in production, promising to launch soon on the market.

Not only developing electric vehicle products, Vingroup also builds a green ecosystem, installing charging stations at commercial centers and apartment complexes. In Hanoi, VinFast has a team of technicians and emergency relief to serve users when encountering vehicle-related problems.

Speaking on Bloomberg, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, senior leader in charge of production at VinFast, said that the company's biggest challenge is convincing Vietnamese users to change their habit of using gasoline cars. "We want people to understand that using electric vehicles will help reduce pollution emissions, thereby improving people's health," Ms. Van Anh said.

Research by this newspaper shows that 80% of motorbike sales are expected to be electric motors by 2040. The selling price of a popular VinFast electric motorbike is currently 12,9 million VND .
