Series on Climate Solutions #1 Electric Vehicles: GREEN IN shares the results of Our two latest studies
On the morning of December 8, GREEN IN organized the first sharing session in the Breakthrough Climate Solutions series with the topic of Electric Vehicles. The results of the two latest studies conducted by GREEN IN in collaboration with experts were shared and discussed with nearly 12 delegates who are experts and lecturers from automobile training schools across the country.
Mr. Diep Anh Tuan, representative of the research team “Research on the development scenario of public electric vehicles in Vietnam’s urban areas towards Net Zero Emissions by 0” presented the current status and development orientation of urban public transport, focusing on electric buses and electric-powered urban railways. In addition, the experience of developing these modes of transport in two countries, China and the Netherlands, is also a topic of interest to many delegates. The focus of the study is 3 scenarios for the development of urban public transport vehicles, of which the most positive scenario is the scenario aiming for zero net emissions. The study calculated the number of vehicles and energy consumption demand, total investment, CO0 emissions and air pollutants for 2 scenarios to propose the developing electric-powered e-transportation in Vietnam.
Part 2 of the sharing session is the results of the research “The impact of EV(s) and technical methodology to integrate EVs into the power grid” presented by Professor Nguyen Duc Tuyen. The research shows that the participation of electric vehicles in the power grid can affect the power grid in terms of voltage, frequency, load curve, power loss, and harmonics. These impacts can be minimized with solutions such as: optimizing charging station locations, integrating rooftop solar power into charging stations, applying V2G technology, and using AI algorithms to forecast charging demand and renewable energy capacity.
At the sharing session, many questions were raised for both authors such as the experience of countries that have developed electric vehicles, the feasibility of both technical and financial scenarios for Vietnam, and the ability to respond to electric vehicles meet load demand... Many discussions and questions from the delegates have provided ideas for next research topics for GREEN IN and the research team.

“Following the topic of Electric Vehicles, between December 12 to January 2023, GREEN IN will continue to organize sharing sessions on the topic of Carbon and reducing greenhouse gas emissions for businesses and practical new energy technology application", Ms. Nguy Thi Giang - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of GREEN IN summarized the sharing session.
GREEN IN will share the results of these 2 research reports on the website and fanpage.
