On June 1, 6, GREEN IN joined the Environmental Technology Center (ENTEC) on a survey trip to implement solutions for biomass waste in Thanh Xuan commune, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province. The project implemented by ENTEC is sponsored by GREEN IN.
The process of socio-economic development puts a lot of pressure on the environment, and Hau Giang province is no exception. The current state of environmental pollution due to waste generated from urban and rural agricultural activities is increasing and there are not really many effective treatment methods on a large scale.
In order to raise awareness about the importance of waste treatment as well as promote solution models to enhance green development, ENTEC selected Thanh Xuan commune, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province for research. and provide solutions to develop renewable energy from biomass waste.
Thanh Xuan commune is a commune in the East of Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province with an area of 17,55 km2 and a population density of about 11,000 people. People in the commune mainly work in agriculture and animal husbandry. Therefore, biomass waste treatment is very important in ensuring the environment and sustainable well-being for people.
To the household of Ms. Hong, currently the owner of the only locust milling factory in the commune. Currently, her facility is the only place in the commune where people can bring agricultural by-products such as grasshoppers and bran to be processed and reused. Grasshoppers and bran will be gathered and provided back to agricultural or livestock and poultry farming households.
Visit Ms. Huong's self-used biogas cellar model, cellar volume 8m3. Currently, the tunnel helps her treat waste from her herd of nearly 100 pigs.
The pigs' waste is converted into biogas for the family to cook and burn. Her family is one of the few households in the commune applying this biogas digester model.
Currently, in Thanh Xuan commune, although people know about renewable energy, it is mostly just rooftop solar power or wind power. People do not know how to reuse waste from farming or animal husbandry more effectively to protect the environment as well as improve their living conditions.
With the above practical models, it is hoped that the people of Thanh Xuan commune will have more confidence and practical experience so that the implementation of biomass waste treatment will bring abundant self-sufficient energy sources to each individual. family, while helping to solve environmental and social security problems for people.
