GREEN IN accompanies Vietnamese logistics businesses on their journey towards green transformation and the aspiration for net zero.

The logistics industry is considered the "lifeblood" of Vietnam's economy. However, it is also one of the industries with the largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, mainly from road, sea, and air transport activities and continuously operating warehousing systems. In the context of the European Green Deal establishing strict carbon taxes and more than 35 countries enacting mandatory ESG disclosure regulations, sustainable development standards are no longer just voluntary slogans. For Vietnamese logistics businesses, ESG is now the "green passport" to enter the global supply chain, a crucial factor determining competitiveness and access to preferential financing.

Recognizing the challenges and pressures facing domestic businesses, Green Innovation Vietnam Joint Stock Company (GREEN IN) has been affirming its role as a reliable partner, pioneering in equipping the Vietnamese logistics community with comprehensive green transformation capabilities and ESG practices.

When international pressure becomes a trade barrier.

In Vietnam's key export markets such as the EU, the US, and developed countries in Asia, consumers and multinational corporations are undergoing a dramatic shift in behavior. They prioritize products with low carbon footprints and completely transparent supply chains. This trend is forcing logistics businesses to change the game: they can no longer compete solely on price or delivery speed, but must demonstrate the capacity to deliver low-emission products and digitize carbon data as required by customers.

Furthermore, capital flow pressure is also a thorny issue. Currently, up to 90% of international financial institutions include ESG (Environmental, Sustainable, and Sustainable) indicators as mandatory criteria before making investment decisions. Conversely, companies that practice ESG well are valued up to 20% higher by the market. In Vietnam, the legal framework is also tightening, with Circular 96/2020/TT-BTC requiring listed companies to disclose information on sustainable development annually. Faced with this trend, if domestic logistics businesses do not proactively adapt, they risk being eliminated from the global value chain right in their own backyard.

GREEN IN: Providing professional support through practical solutions

Understanding that many Vietnamese logistics businesses—especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—are still struggling to figure out where to start, GREEN IN offers a practical approach, helping to "simplify" complex international standards into concrete actions.

Recently, GREEN IN's collaboration with the Vietnam Logistics Services Business Association (VLA) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to organize an in-depth workshop and training program is clear evidence of this effort. GREEN IN doesn't just stop at sharing theory, but directly accompanies businesses in resolving each bottleneck through a systematic 5-step process:

1. Define the strategy and identify key themes.

Logistics businesses typically own or operate a large amount of assets, from vehicle fleets to warehouses. GREEN IN guides businesses on how to identify the "hot spots" that have the greatest impact on the environment and people. For the Environment (E) pillar, the main focus is on greenhouse gas inventory, energy optimization, transitioning to sustainable fuels (SAF), or electrifying the vehicle fleet. For the Social (S) and Governance (G) pillars, businesses are guided on building a safe working environment for drivers and warehouse workers, while establishing data security and corruption prevention mechanisms when operating across borders.

2. Applying tools and mastering emissions data.

One of the biggest barriers for businesses is the lack of measurement tools. GREEN IN supports businesses in accessing reputable reporting standards frameworks such as GRI, IFRS, or ESRS/VSME. Transparent carbon data at each stage and for each order not only helps businesses optimize operating costs (reducing empty vehicle runs and regular vehicle maintenance) but also provides a basis for them to directly provide "green reports" to international shippers.

Lawyer Truong Tu Long gave a speech on ESG in the logistics industry.

3. Integrate ESG into the organization's "DNA".

GREEN IN emphasizes that ESG is not just a portfolio for branding purposes, but must be comprehensively integrated. From the Board of Directors approving the vision, the Executive Board allocating resources, to each functional department (procurement, human resources, IT), everyone must bear the responsibility for green KPIs. Only when sustainable thinking permeates the daily behavior of every employee can the transformation journey achieve long-term success.

A golden opportunity to take off with supportive policies.

The journey towards greening the logistics industry, while full of challenges, opens up unprecedented opportunities. The Vietnamese government currently has very specific support policies through the Sustainable Business Support Program for the period 2026-2030 (Decision 926/QD-TTg). Notably, according to Resolution 198, businesses applying ESG standards or implementing circular economy and green transformation projects will receive interest rate support of up to 2% per year when borrowing capital.

As a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the GRI Community, GREEN IN is committed to continuing to be a strong bridge, helping logistics businesses quickly access consulting resources, in-depth training, and practical digital transformation technologies.

Green transformation is no longer a story of the future, but a crucial ticket to the survival of businesses right now. Don't let ESG standards become a barrier to your business – let GREEN IN accompany you in transforming challenges into core competitive advantages, together building a green, efficient, and sustainable Vietnamese logistics industry.
