World Oceans Day 2021: "Green Energy" Island from Denmark

World Oceans Day 2021: Islands

On February 4, Denmark approved a plan to build the world's first energy island in the North Sea, producing and storing enough green energy to meet the electricity needs of 2 million people. households in Europe.

This artificial island is the size of 18 football fields, 12 hectares wide, connected to hundreds of offshore wind turbines and will provide 3 gigawatts of electricity to households as well as "green" hydrogen for marine use. , aviation... The island is built about 80km from the west coast of Denmark and will connect with several European countries. The project is worth 34 billion USD.

In Vietnam, according to preliminary calculations, our offshore wind power potential is estimated to reach 160 GW. Even after excluding locations that are not feasible due to conflicts with other marine uses or financial reasons, the potential for offshore wind power construction remains quite large. This rich potential source is currently attracting great interest from international investors.

We hope that one day, not far away from the World Ocean, Vietnam will also have more offshore wind power projects providing green energy for islands and islands as well as the mainland.
