Nghe An: Prioritize the development of renewable energy sources and clean energy

In Nghe An, according to preliminary survey results, this province has about 1.600 hectares of area that can be exploited for solar energy investment, equivalent to a capacity of 1.300 MWp.
Nghe An Electricity Company said that in 2021, commercial electricity output reached 4.105,78 million kWh, an increase of 9,0% compared to 2020 and reaching 100,1% of the whole year plan. Meanwhile, renewable energy for rooftop solar power projects in Nghe An province only has 790 customers using it with a total capacity of 91,93 MWp (equivalent to 73,54MW). In which, the number of customers who are households using rooftop solar power is 696 customers with a total capacity of 6,83 MWp (equivalent to 5,83 MW).
The number of business customers using rooftop solar power with a capacity of 100kWp or more is 94 businesses with a total capacity of 85,1MWp (68,08MW), including all fields such as agriculture, industry and residential. Specific applications and services such as: industrial sector has 52 participating enterprises with a total capacity of 47,87 MWp (38,30MW); The agricultural sector has 25 participating enterprises with a total capacity of 26,95MWp (21,56MW); The civil and service sectors have 17 enterprises with a total capacity of 10,28 MWp (8,22MW).
Nghe An prioritizes the development of renewable energy sources and clean energy
After the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 13/2020/QD-TTg dated April 6, 4 on encouraging solar power development, Nghe An has increased the connection of rooftop solar power projects to the general public. The match capacity is 2020 MWp, equivalent to 91,93MW (during the period from August 73,54 - December 8, 2020). After that time, no rooftop solar power projects have been connected.
The above data shows that the total installed capacity of rooftop solar power is still quite modest, so the electricity output generated on the grid is not high.
Nghe An is the province with the largest area in the country. According to data from the Vietnam Energy Agency and the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (AECID), Nghe An is considered one of the localities in Vietnam with great potential for solar energy development with The average number of sunshine hours is about 1.700 - 2.000 hours/year, belonging to the group of areas with high sunshine hours across the country, and the average amount of solar radiation is about 4,73 kWh/m2/day. With its geographical location and climate, Nghe An can effectively exploit solar power throughout the year, especially from April to October.
Since the actual demand for energy use in Nghe An has increased over the years and the development of fossil energy supplies is increasingly limited to minimize impacts on the environment, Nghe An has been prioritizing Pioneering in developing power sources from clean and renewable energy sources, contributing to replacing depleted traditional energy sources. At the same time, call on the community to promote economical and efficient use of energy.
Sharing about installing rooftop electricity, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Vinh Tan urban area - City. Vinh Nghe An said: “I feel the solar power system is safe, neat and clean. Like my family, we only need to clean 1-2 times a year. The lightning protection effect of the solar power system is also very safe and handled better than the previous traditional method. The panels are not too heavy and do not take up space when stacked on top of each other, my house has a flat roof so it makes the house cooler."
Many households in Nghe An invest in using solar power systems as a solution to both save electricity and prevent heat.
“For households like us, just installing a battery of 10 kWp or more means there is no need to buy electricity from the grid during the day. Users only have to buy electricity at night. I see that not only in families, but this system will be very suitable for supermarkets, restaurants... because they are mainly doing business during the day."Mr. Tuan said.
According to the Power Management Department of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade, currently most of the projects are local, with small capacity of households using grid-connected inverters, without electricity storage. That means, when the grid power is lost or not connected to the public grid, rooftop solar power cannot operate. Even if it is sunny, solar panels can still generate electricity but must idling. This situation has led to many rooftop solar power projects and works not being completed in time and being put on the grid before December 31, 12, causing huge waste.
In the context of increasingly depleted energy supplies and increasing demand for electricity, Nghe An has been prioritizing the development of power sources from new energy sources, renewable energy, solar power... at the same time. Call for promoting economical and efficient use of energy.
Nghe An Province has developed Plan No. 330 dated June 16, 6 on implementing Vietnam's national energy development strategic orientation to 2021, with a vision to 2030 in Nghe An province. Also according to calculations by the Nghe An Industry and Trade sector, in 2045, Nghe An province's electricity consumption is 2020 billion KW, expected to be 3,8 billion KW by 2025 and 6,75 billion KW by 2030. Therefore, investing in renewable energy is extremely necessary.
According to the survey, the potential - renewable energy in Nghe An reaches over 17.400 MW. However, according to the draft Power Plan 8, only 110 MW of small hydropower is included, accounting for 0,6%. This rate is quite low, while the potential in Nghe An can be to implement rooftop solar power, ground solar power, surface solar power and onshore wind power. These are renewable energy sources that are considered environmentally friendly.
Before developing large capacity solar power, Nghe An has prioritized installing small capacity solar power. This is very effective, brings great technical and economic value, encourages people to invest their own capital, and is easy to install electricity storage for solar power systems.
In early March, the People's Committee of Nghe An province decided on investment policies and approved investors to implement two projects: Vuc Mau Lake Solar Power Plant and Khe Go MK Solar Power Plant in the area. Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town with a total capacity of 3 MWp, total investment of 2 billion VND.
In the decision approving the investment policy signed by Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa on March 1, 3, the goal is to attract and call for investors to implement the solar power plant project. according to the adjusted Power Plan VII approved by the Prime Minister to produce electricity from solar energy and transmit it to the national electricity system to ensure energy security.
In addition, Nghe An province is also proposing to include 7 grid-connected solar power projects in the draft National Power Development Plan for the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2045 with a total capacity of 680 MWp.
