VIRTUE - The Opel Rocks-e model is the newest member of the fire truck fleet at the company's factory in Rüsselsheim.
The German car company introduced a special version of Rocks-e - a car model that is classified as a light quadricycle instead of a regular car. This special car model will perform duties in the fire department of the Opel factory.
In its new role, Rocks-e is painted in two tones of red and black, with yellow details. The vehicle is equipped with flashing lights and an emergency phone number. In the cabin, firefighters can store tools under the co-pilot's seat as well as under the footrest.
However, Rocks-e's mission is not to put out fires or carry heavy equipment, but its flexibility and ease of maneuverability help the mini electric vehicle reach any corner of the factory. Compact size as well as zero-emission engine also allow Rocks-e to run straight into buildings when needed.
In the world, Opel Rocks-e is probably one of the smallest cars in the fire truck fleet. This electric car is only 2.410 mm long and 1.390 mm wide. The car can only carry two people.
Rocks-e has a limited maximum speed of 45 km/h, and a 5,5 kW battery pack that works well within a travel range of 70 km. An interesting point of Rocks-e is that the charging cord is fixed in the car, 3 m long, and can be pulled through the car door to plug into the charging socket. Full battery charging time is about 3,5 hours.
